Matthew competed in his last track meet of the season this past Saturday at Lower Richland High School. It was a gorgeous day, about 80 degrees, low humidity and plenty of sunshine. After a delay, the meet finally got underway at around 10:30 a.m., and Matt ran his first event, the 50 yd. dash, a little before 11:00. The picture here is Matt right before he crosses the finish line. Notice the absence of runners behind him.
That's okay Matt, if running track isn't your bag, then we'll just try something else.
We're very proud of Matt. He stuck out the practices and day-long track meets, even when his enthusiasm began to wane. It would have been easy to get discouraged, but he kept on keeping on and finished out the season. Way to go, Matt!
Matt says he wants to try baseball next, so we'll get him signed up for that next season.
Thanks again to Grandmama, who made the trip up Saturday to see Matt compete. That completed her mission to see sporting events for all four grandchildren this year, which we all appreciate more than she knows.
